Prof. Dr. Sima Fakheran was reappointed by the President of Isfahan University of Technology for the next two years as the Director of the IUT International Scientific Cooperation Center.

Dr. Fakheran is an Associate professor of Environmental Sciences, an alumna from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, Head of Swiss desk (Leading House for Iran–Switzerland Science and Technology Collaboration),  and the Vice President of the International Association of Landscape Ecology –IALE .

Dr. Mostafa Hassanalian, one of the distinguished IUT Alumni and currently an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at New Mexico Tech, has recently achieved the New Mexico Tech Student Government Association outstanding Faculty Member Award for 2019-2020.   

It's a great honor to announce Dr. Mahmoud Tabrizchi, the faculty member of Isfahan University of Technology ─ Faculty of Chemistry ─ has been reassigned as the Iranian representative in the SESAME Council (Synchrotron Radiation Center for Research and Applied Sciences in the Middle East) for the next two years. This membership has been renewed due to the extensive knowledge as well as the five-year history of his presence in this council as the Iran’s representative with the aim of making this project more known to Iranian researchers.

This newsletter, designed to expand the university's international scientific interactions with academic institutions abroad, aims to inform all faculty, students, and IUT staff about international events, educational opportunities, and research available in international academic spaces, News of visits and conferences, as well as bylaws and circulars related to international affairs, which can affect the international scientific interactions of outstanding academics.

After the approval of the National Headquarters for Fighting Corona on Social Distancing, all face-to-face and educational activities in all universities and higher education centers in the country have been suspended. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, on April 20, 2020, all educational institutions were required to use online education technologies in order to minimize the damage caused by the cessation of face-to-face education.

Corona's pandemic has shut down universities in 188 countries and caused serious changes in their higher education system. According to UNESCO, more than 1.5 billion students (more than 91% of the world's students) have been affected by the corona pandemic, and their education system has undergone serious changes. Changes that have been made either governmentally or by publicly or by universities and educational institutions.

This symposium was virtually held on May 18, 2020 with the presence of the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, the Deputy Ministers, the presidents of some universities, and research institutes and science and technology parks of the country as well as the international deputies and managers. The main topic of the meeting was about presenting the performance of several universities and research institutes and providing solutions for international scientific collaboration in the post-Corona era.
