According to the largest global ranking of universities i.e. "Times Institute of Higher Education" for 2023, more than 2500 universities from 104 countries of the world were assessed. After the initial evaluation, the number of 1799 universities met the necessary conditions to participate in this ranking. According to the list published by this ranking institute, Oxford, Harvard and Cambridge were the universities ranked first to third worldwide. Iranian universities participation in this ranking has been on the rise, so that there were 58 universities in 2022 while they were 65 in 2023.

The second stage of the first cultural and sports Olympiad for female international students of the Iranian universities started on September 5, 2022, hosted by Mazandaran University, in 6 fields including chess, athletics, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, and swimming. These competitions ended on September 5, 2022, and the best teams and players were awarded. Accordingly, at the end of these competitions, the girls' chess team of IUT international students achieved the third place of the team competitions.
In the opening ceremony of the 53rd Iranian Mathematical Conference held at Mazandaran University, the special award of the Iranian Mathematical Association in Geometry and Topology (Hashtroudi Award) was given to Prof. Majid Gazor, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematical Sciences in Isfahan University of Technology, and Dr. Ahmad Shoghi, a postdoctoral researcher of this department.

This ranking is carried out in 54 disciplines and 5 general fields including: engineering (22 majors), natural sciences (8 majors), biological sciences (4 majors), medical sciences (6 majors), and social sciences (14 majors). More than 1,800 universities out of 5,000 were surveyed from 96 countries. 34 universities were from Iran.
